Mark worked with a team of 30 people from Shreveport/Bossier City Louisiana to distribute over 2,400 gifts through Samaritan's Purse to children in one of the most dangerous cities in the world, Juarez, Mexico. The present danger in Juarez is due to turf battles among drug cartels; however, Samaritan's Purse continues to deliver gifts to needy children across the world, including Juarez.

The team traveled to Juarez in January 2009 and worked with the local ministry in Juarez, "Amigo Fiel" (Faithful Friend). Over 2,000 children came to a local recreation center where the team unloaded and distributed gifts to every child. Each child receives one gift. Because of the number of gifts to distribute, there were three different distribution times over two days.

On the afternoon of the last day, the team traveled to one of the slum areas (colonias) where people build homes from cardboard and pallets until they can afford cinderblocks. Here the team distributed over 400 gifts to children.
