Governor Blanco enacted House Bill No. 90
into law on November 23, 2005, which legislatively ratifies and
modifies portions of the emergency orders put in place after
hurricanes Katrina and Rita. These Executive Orders suspended
certain prescriptive periods (statute of limitations) and extended

Notice from the Louisiana
State Police regarding oversize loads and escort
fees.
In accordance with Louisiana Revised Statute 32:387 and Louisiana Administrative Code 73:I.1901, Louisiana
State Police troopers are required to escort certain oversize permit
loads on the highway.
Effective August 1, 2005,
the rate of pay will increase to $40.00 per hour with a two-hour
minimum charge. The vehicle use fee remains unchanged as listed
below:
Chargeable Miles
Fee 0 - 49
$25 50 - 99
$50 100 - 199
$75 200 - 299
$100 300 and over
$125
Policies regarding payment
remain unchanged. Upon conclusion of the escort, the trooper must
collect a money order or company check. No personal checks or cash
are accepted. The total amount due for the escort fee and vehicle
use fee may be combined on one check.

new maps and made them available online. These maps show the
DOTD District boundaries as well as the boundaries for the State
Police Troops in the State.

The firm was recently
recognized in an issue of "The Voice", a publication of the Defense Research
Institute. The article, which was included in Volume 2,
Issue 30 (July 30 - August 5, 2003), was regarding a recent jury
verdict in Federal Court involving a trucking client in which the
jury assessed 0% liability to the trucking company in a suit brought
by homeowners who lost their home when the tractor trailer ran into

Governor Foster announced
this week that National Truck Driver Appreciation Week will be
celebrated in Louisiana on August 18-24, 2002 to "honor the more
than 3 million men and women in America who deliver our goods by
truck for a living. Businesses, schools, communities,
churches, and other civic organizations are encouraged to honor
professional truck drivers for the vital role they play in the lives
of Americans."
The Louisiana Motor Transit
Association will host a special rest break at the Covington Rest
Area (on I-12, see map) on Friday, August 23rd with refreshments and
goody bags for truckers.
